Article IName
and Area-laws Section 1.The name of the association shall
be the Schuyler-Brown Retired TeachersAssociation and shall
include Schuyler and Brown
Counties. Article IIPurposes Section
1.To advance the
professional, social, and economic welfare of the retired teachers in Schuyler
and Brown counties. Section 2.To work in cooperation with the
Illinois Retired Teachers Association and the National Retired Teachers
Association for the advancement of the interests and welfare of all retired
teachers. Article IIIMembership Section
1.Any retired teacher,
administrator, school nurse, librarian, or secretary formerly employed in the
nation’s schools may become an active member of the Association upon payment of
annual dues. Article IVOfficers and Duties Section
1.The elected officers of
the Association shall be a president/co-president, a vice president, a
secretary, and a treasurer. Section 2.The duties of each officer shall
be those which are usual to said office. Section 3.The president/co-president A.shall
preside at the meetings of the Association and the Executive Board B.shall
appoint all standing committees and shall be an ex-officio member of these
committees. C.shall
have the authority in case of a vacancy of an elected to appoint another person
from the same county to serve the unexpired term. Section 4.The vice president A.shall
preside in the absence of the president/co-president. B.Shall
become president at any time the office of President/Co-presidents shall become
vacant. Section 5.The Secretary A.shall
keep the minutes of all the meetings of the Association and the Executive Board B.shall
assist the president/co-president in carrying on the correspondence of the
Association. Section 6.The treasurer A.shall
receive all monies of the Association, shall keep an accurate record of all
receipts and expenditures and shall pay out funds only as authorized by the president/co-presidents. B.shall
forward IRTA dues collected from the members to the Illinois Retired Teachers
Association. C.shall
present a statement of account at every meeting of the Board and shall read the financial report to the members of
the Association at each meeting. Article IVExecutive Board Section 1.The
Executive Board shall consist of the officers and chairmen of standing committees
having some chairmen from each committee. Section 2.Duties
of the Executive Board A. shall have at least one meeting in the spring
and any other meeting deemed necessary B. has emergency power to act on all necessary
business between meetings of the Association.A majority of the Executive board present shall constitute a quorum. Article VIElections and Term of Office Section 1.A nominating committee shall be
named at the June meeting in even years preceding the election of officers at
the September meeting. A.When co-presidents are nominated one shall be from Schuyler
County and the other from Brown County.
Section 2.The officers of the Association
shall be elected and installed at the September meeting, and take office at the
September meeting. Section 3.The term of office for each
elected officer shall be two years and each shall serve from his/her induction
through the September meeting of the following even numbered year. Section 4.The retiring president shall be a
member of the Executive Board for two years following the regular term of
office. Article VIIMeetings Section 1.This association shall have two
meetings a year to be held in June and September.An additional meeting may be called in the
spring. Section 2.The regular meeting shall be held
on the second Monday or Tuesday of the designated months.The president/ co-presidents and officers of
the Association shall decide the exact time of each meeting. Section 3.Meetings shall be held
alternately between Brown and Schuyler
Counties. Section 4.The president/co-presidents may
call special meetings when necessary. Article VIIIList of Committees Section 1.The
president/co-presidents appoint all committees both standing and temporary Section 2.

Services Article IXDues and Fiscal Year Section 1.The annual local membership dues
shall be $8.00 per calendar year payable in advance or at the June meeting. Section 2.The fiscal year of the
Association shall be July 1 through June 30 of the next year. Article XProcedure Section 1.Robert’s Rules of Order, Revised
shall be the authority on all rules of business procedure not otherwise
specified in the By-laws. Article XIAmendments Section
1.The By-laws of the
Association may be amended by a majority vote of the membership present at a
regular meeting when it has been previously approved by the Executive board and
read at a meeting of the Association.
